I like the brevity of this, though it's definitely more abstruse than the other. I had to read it a few times, and the last line especially still bothers me. I think it just needs to be re-worded, or something; I think I understand what you're trying to say here, and I like it; it's just awkward at the moment.

To inter this time-distilled bitter—
This line three me off as well; the way you use "bitter" as a noun is confusing.
